CANACONA: The highly decomposed carcass of a large whale was washed ashore at Nuem-Khola and the stench has been unbearable for residents in the area.
According to Nuem-Khola residents, the carcass of a large whale was washed ashore about three days ago and it began to break up into pieces.
A local, Precopio Fernandes, informed that huge bones were seen heading in different directions into the sea.
“Some fishermen who had ventured into sea reported having sighted the carcass floating in the sea a few days ago, before it got washed on our shore three days ago,” Fernandes informed Herald.
Another resident, Remy Fernandes, complained that the stench is unbearable to the Nuem-Khola residents and it can be felt around the entire locality.
