MARGAO: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday asked the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to come clean on as to what prevents the government from imposing a lockdown in Vasco town.
GPCC President Girish Chodankar alleged that the Chief Minister and Cabinet Minister from Mormugao have common interests in the coal transportation from the port town.
Further, he urged the Chief Minister and Cabinet Minister Milind Naik to clarify their stand in the interest of transportation business.
“The Chief Minister has to come out clean on what is stopping him from taking action in imposing lockdown in the port town,” said Girish.
GPCC President, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, former power minister Alexio Sequeira and South Goa Congress President Joseph Dias flagged off the food relief vehicle to Mangor Hill, Vasco.
Girish while addressing the media persons informed, “It is the Chief Minister who has to be blamed for taking Goa from zero to 300 COVID cases.”
“The COVID cases are reaching the villages of Goa now and his own MLAs and ministers from Vasco are asking for a lockdown. However, there are some vested interests clashing in Vasco. We are being told that a ship has docked at the harbour and his own minister has interest in the transportation of the low grade coal. People are saying that the Chief Minister himself has interests in transportation of local that is why he does not want to impose lockdown in the port town,” alleged the GPCC president.
He informed that in the migrant labourers’ beneficiary list name of Aldona BJP Mahila Mandal Block Chief Manisha Naik’s allegedly highlights, who is the BJP Aldona candidate for Zilla Parishad elections.
“How do the names of BJP office bearers reflect? This means this scam is very big and the Labour and Employment Minister has to come out clean on this,” demanded Girish.
Pravin Blagon from Sanquelim, who was with his minor daughter at the press briefing informed that his daughter even after not being registered has got the money of MGNREGA amounting to Rs 500.
“Is this the way to bribe your opponents or is the strategy much deeper,” questioned Girish.
