MARGAO: Claiming innocence in the assault case in which he was recently convicted by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), BJP vice president and former minister Ramesh Tawadkar said he will appeal against the order and won’t back down.
Tawadkar alleged that the Puno Velip case was registered as a part of a predetermined plan of a local leader and a senior BJP leader to destroy his image in the midst of the election. He informed that at least 4 cases have been registered against him during that period and that he has been cleared in three of the four cases filed against him.
“There were attempts to weave me in various cases including an Income Tax raid,” he claimed.
Tawadkar alleged that Puno was in a tactful manner influenced by money and made to file a case against him.
