PANJIM: Minister for Tourism Manohar Azgaonkar has said that the department will take all the panchayats into confidence while drawing up project plans for coastal circuit development after Goa received a second allotment of Central Financial Assistance from the Union Ministry of Tourism under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
“Goa Tourism is committed on developing coastal areas in the State which will boost tourism and attract tourists to enjoy not only the beaches and coastal areas by availing facilities and quality tourism infrastructure,” the minister said.
He further said that tourism infrastructure development projects such as providing toilets, changing rooms, locker facilities, adequate parking, beautification, illumination etc are many of the components envisaged in the plans.
Azgaonkar has convened a high level meeting of MLAs and sarpanchas from coastal talukas on tourism development initiatives proposed in coastal areas in the State on Monday.
This meeting comes in the wake of the sanction of CFA of Rs 100 crore by the Government of India to Goa under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme for coastal circuit development.
The meeting will be attended by the MLAs and sarpanchas representing the coastal areas in Goa and details on infrastructure development projects in each respective coastal talukas will be explained and deliberated upon, minister said.
“I am confident that the MLAs and Village panchayat sarpanchas will co-operate and contribute in the discussions on Monday and strengthen Goa Tourism’s plans of augmenting tourism infrastructure in the State of Goa,” he said.
Azgaonkar appealed to all coastal belt public representatives to remain more vigilant on the drug menace and said department will seek their co-operation in eradicating the same.
