Will it be Babush v/s Mickky for CCP elections?

PANJIM, JAN 10
Is Benaulim MLA Mickky Pacheco taking on the might of Taleigao strongman Babush Monserrate for the forthcoming elections to the Corporation of the City of Panjim?
This was the question put forth at least three times by media persons to Pacheco after the Nationalist Congress Party’s first Executive Committee meeting resolved to field a panel of the NCP for the corporation elections scheduled for March this year.
Pacheco, who attended the meeting today, said there was no question of a fight. “It is the party’s decision to field the panel. We are having a sitting councillor Avinash Bhonsle (NCP General Secretary) in the CCP and through him the party will take into confidence people into social service in the city. It is time to judge the mood of the people.”
The EC meeting today announced the committee under the leadership of Pacheco with other members namely Avinash Bhonsle, Tanvir Khateeb and Salim Sayyed, who will work towards forming a panel.
The committee has resolved to look at the possibility of fielding candidates in various wards after looking at the mood of the people. Meanwhile, Babush has already floated his panel and those close to him say he will sweep the polls.
