MARGAO: Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro has written to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant demanding for the withdrawal of the permissions given to the Railways to lay a second track at the Davorlim Level crossing.
He has also extended full support to the agitation and agitators who are opposed to the double-tracking and coal hub in Goa.
Luizinho also recalled that one year and seven months have passed since the Collector’s office had passed an order to stop the works of Railways double tracking in Davorlim stretch as the works affected the farmers.
“Now the same office gave permission to railways to shut the crossing for the facilitation of the construction of double track,” he lamented.
“Zariwado Khuris feast is on November 8 and Rosary Saibin feast is on November 9. People will be agitating during this period as the order is against the people. I have written to the CM demanding to withdraw the permission given by the collector to Railways” he said.
The former CM added that the problem won’t be resolved by filing cases against the activists, while calling for the authorities to instead hold discussions with the activists.
He opined that if the port is making losses then the Government should close down the port trust.
