CANACONA: In a bizarre incident, a 23-year-old woman along with her two-month-old baby allegedly jumped into a well and died at Cotigao in the wee hours of Sunday.
According to Canacona police, fire brigade personnel fished out the bodies of Megan alias Teja Velip and Rina from the well at Pansuleammoll-Cotigao on Sunday morning.
Police have sent the bodies at Hospicio in Margao which  likely to be conducted on Monday, informed police.
It is believed that the woman along with her two-month baby took the drastic step in the wee hours of Sunday when all others in the house were reportedly sleeping.
Megan, originally from Shristhal-Gulem, was reportedly married two years ago and had returned to her husband’s house some three to four days ago from her maternal house at Gulem, where she was residing since the birth of her child in the first  week of May.
Meanwhile, it was a tale of unbelief and anxiety at Gulem with residents refusing to buy the suicide theory suspecting foul play in the death of the otherwise lively girl.
“Given the energetic behaviour of Megan, it is not possible that she will commit suicide,” said a resident of Gulem.
While her father and two of his well-wishers accompanied her body to Margao, her mother, crying inconsolably, was heard blaming her fate that her daughter and grandchild were taken away in such a cruel manner.
