A tragic road accident at Topcola Borim claimed the life of a 60-year-old woman on Thursday, while her husband sustained serious injuries after their motorcycle was hit by a container truck.
The deceased has been identified as Mohini Tukaram Shirodkar, a resident of Borim. According to reports, the couple was travelling towards Margao on their motorcycle when a container truck coming from behind allegedly dashed into the bike on the Margao-Borim-Dhavli road.

Due to the impact, the husband, who was riding the motorcycle, fell towards the roadside and suffered serious injuries. Mohini Shirodkar, who was riding pillion, reportedly fell onto the road, after which the rear wheel of the container truck ran over her, crushing her to death on the spot.
Locals and passersby rushed to the scene immediately after the accident and informed the police and emergency services. The injured husband was shifted to the Sub District Hospital for medical treatment.
The accident triggered massive traffic congestion on the busy Margao-Borim-Dhavli stretch, with long queues of vehicles witnessed for nearly six kilometres. Commuters remained stranded for a considerable period as police worked to clear the road and regulate traffic movement.
Police later reached the accident site and initiated further investigation into the incident. The container truck involved in the accident was also taken into custody for further inquiry.
