VASCO: Several urgent public works in Vasco has been neglected by the municipality due to internal politics, Councillor Krishna (Daji) Salkar has alleged.
“Several public works that need to be executed immediately, such as vacating dilapidated buildings, trimming overgrown trees, cutting down trees posing danger and pre-monsoon works which should have been started by now are being neglected by the ruling council due to the internal politics,” Salkar alleged addressing a press conference here on Tuesday.

Citing the death of a youth last year due to tree fall in the town, Salkar averred that internal politics is indirectly proving to be life threatening. In that incident an overgrown Ashoka tree fell on livewires which in turn fell on the victim youth who was on his two-wheeler.
He maintained that trimming of overgrown trees, cutting of trees posing danger, vacating the dilapidated buildings, cleaning drains, fogging, garbage collection from black spots need to be done immediately, before monsoons.
