Literacy levels of Goa being highest in India, the voters are considered to be the most intelligent in choosing their leaders in politics. More the intelligence, more the difference of opinions because of which more number of political parties have mushroomed during the last decade, projecting their different philosophies. The other defect in Goa’s political system is voters are split on religious lines.
Soon after liberation, Goa’s politics was limited to regional parties like MGP and United Goan’s. Where, MGP was a Hindu and United Goans a party of Catholics. When national level parties entered Goa if Hindus accepted BJP, Catholics went for Congress. Today the common man is fed up of all political parties as they play friendly matches for their mileage forgetting the promises to the voters. But still voters hope for a change by accepting a new mushrooming party and new leaders, only based on the communal hangover.
If Gulf countries are rich with their oil economy, China with the production money, India is equally rich with black money looted with the support of the corrupt. Politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen easily diverted a major part of currency in black, as our policies have supported the growth of black money. The funds which should have been spent on infrastructure development of our country got stagnated in black format as the currency cannot be utilised freely, fearing government action. Hence the black money got deposited abroad, converted in yellow metal and in land and real estate, weakening the normal economy.
There are no funds with the states and centre to run the government machinery. World Bank loans have already eaten up India’s economic health for many years. While a common man knows nothing about it. Scandals and scams divert the government funds into politician’s personal accounts in crores, after which how can any government survive? Having looted the government funds, one party hands over the government to a new party, thus playing a friendly match. Then the new party in power creates new opportunities to loot, and having exhausted the scope, hands over the government in the hands of earlier party. The game is not noticed by the common man who hopes for a miracle supporting new entrants.
Miserably their hopes dwindle in the mist of oblivion the very next moment, when they find the leaders supported by them, join the majority party to find their political mileage forgetting philosophies and promises. In the present political scenario of Goa, leaders have mushroomed under different banners just to find a place on the political platform. The branded leaders are splitting the party with their difference of opinions which finally lead to a political disaster. Under such circumstances voters are not aware of what could be a right decision in the interest of Goa’s future but get carried away by a situational instigation of a leader.
The actual effects of decision on demonetisation cannot be realized or visualized by a common man today as the opposition lobby of black money rich politicians are propagating negativity in the minds of the common man by projecting the hardship faced in the initial process of changeover. Within the next few years the positive effect will be realised by every Indian to enjoy the high-end infrastructure development of our country at par with any other developed country. Hence we should all have patience to enjoy better days provided we take a proper common decision to elect selfless leaders who can really be able to struggle for overall development with government’s support only when they are part of ruling the party.
If any leader promises the sun and the moon to us on their individual capacity, intelligent, educated Goans voters should evaluate the truth to bring up a stable government in Goa rather giving a scope for a Fevicol government of leaders with different ideologies, under different banners.
