PANJIM: ABC Sports Club Arambol defeated hosts Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club 3-2 to move into the quarter-finals of 23rd Vagator Soccer at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club Ground, Sunday.
Early in the match, a shot by Manuel Rodrigues of ABC Arambol was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Akash Sirsaiker of Vagator.

In the 18th minute Jason Fernandes essayed to Cyprian Rodrigues who scored the opener for ABC. Within two minutes a power-packed shot by Manuel Rodrigues of Arambol deflected off defender Tukaram Corjuekar and hit the woodwork.
After interval, Vagator PYSC scored the equalizer in the 37th minute when a corner taken by Alatn D’Souza saw Tannay Mapshekar deceiving the Arambol goalkeeper with a flicker.
Within no time Arambol scored as Reniel D’mello found Cyprian Rodrigues who scored his brace. In the 49th minute, Arambol scored another goal through Reniel D’mello.
Vagator retaliated, kept up the pressure and Tannay Mapshekar dribbled is way through from the halfway line to find the back of the nets. The man-of-the match prize was awarded to Cyprian Rodrigues of ABC Arambol by Surendra Govekar.
On Saturday, Guardian Angel Sports Club, Curchorem, scored a comfortable 3-1 win over Goa Velha Sports Club.
Guardian Angel took the lead in the 17th minute when Godwin D’costa dribbled his way past the Goa Velha defense and crossed to Jovito Dias who had to just tap in. In the 19th minute, Guardian Angel doubled their lead when Fedrich Fernandes put a through pass to Godwin D’costa who found the back of the nets.
Within few minutes Goa Velha’s Nikesh Mangueshkar scored from a corner taken by Joseph Rodrigues. Later, Jovito had an opportunity to score but Goa Velha goalkeeper Sairaj Chodankar was unbeatable. Just before the end of the final whistle, Godwin D’costa made it 3-1 when Goa Velha goalkeeper Sairaj Chodankar made a blunder allowing the ball to slip through his gloves.
The man-of-the match prize was awarded to Godwin D’Costa of Guardian Angel by Sudesh Parsekar.
