MARGAO: Following their return in the I-League, Churchill Brothers coach Alfred Fernandes is upbeat for team’s performance in the upcoming fixtures despite their 0-1 loss in the first match against Mohun Bagan.
“We had almost sixty per cent ball possession but we just had two unintentional mistakes in the entire game off which we conceded one goal. At the other end, we had three scoring chances but we missed narrowly,” said the gaffer on highlighting his team’s performance against the Kolkata based club in the league opener.
Churchill Brothers will play their first home game of the season on Sunday against Mumbai FC at Tilak Stadium and the Benaulim based coach aims in collecting his first points of the season.
“Mumbai FC is a good team. We are not going to take any team lightly. We will try to get the maximum points,” said Fernandes.
Churchill Bros struggled at the set pieces in the opening fixture but the coach has assured of his team’s better display in the next match against Mumbai.
“We have worked on that area,” he said.
The team comprising of Indian players with a mix of young talent and experienced players, the gaffer shed light on few foreign signings in the coming days.
“We might add three foreign players into the squad after Anthony Wolfe,” disclosed Alfred.
