PONDA: Almeida High School won the Ponda Taluka Mini-Secondary U-14 and U-17 chess tournament for boys, organised by DSYA, at Government High School, Bethoda, recently.
In the U-14 Category Almeida topped followed by MIBK High School, Khandepar and Dr KB Hedgewar HS, Ponda in the second and third place respectively. Almeida HS also won the U-17 title while KRSS HS, Savoiverem came second and Wagle High School, Mangueshi had to be content with the third place. The tournament was organized by TSO Prakash Satarkar and Wilson Cruz (GCA joint treasurer) was the chief arbiter.
