AMBELIM: Ambelim Sports Club came from behind to register a 2-1 win over Carmona SC, in the Goa Football Association (GFA) Third Division League match played at Ambelim ground, on Saturday.
Carmona SC started the match brightly and took the lead in the eight minute of the play through Anthony Braganza.
Up the ante, Carmona played a more relaxed game and contained the rival defence till the half-time whistle.
Ambelim SC pressed hard in the second half to score the leveller and finally managed to do in the dying minutes of the game, thanks to Prinson Fernandes’ late brace.
In another match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, Youth Sports Club Colvale scored a fluent 2-0 win over Benny XI Sports Club.
Both the goals were scored in the second half of the play through Rio Fernandes and Sattyam Gawas.
Meanwhile at Anjuna ground, Holiday Sports Club, Arpora put up a strong display and recorded 3-1 win over United Club of Nerul.
Gauresh Mandrekar gave Holiday SC an early 10th minute lead but Yash Naik levelled terms for Nerul in the 13th minute.
Francis Fernandes gave Holiday SC lead in the 44th minute and Paresh Vaigankar scored the third in the 75th minute.
GFA U-16: Salgaocar FC scored a resounding 6-1 win over Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda in the GFA U-16 League match, at Cavelossim ground.
Joswel Cardozo and Anwil Costa scored a brace each for the winners while Ashley Furtado and Syndroy Araujo were the other goal scorers for the winners.
Richie pulled a goal back for the Fatorda side.
