AMBELIM: Ambelim got the better of Raia 5-3 via the tie-breaker in the Lourdes soccer, held at Ambelim ground, on Monday.
Lyodd had an opportunity to give the lead for Raia but wasted the chance as he blasted over the goal in the fifth minute.
In the next minute, Steven’s powerful shot rattled the crossbar. Ambelim’s Perryson had a chance to score but shot over the goal in the 20th minute.
Denny and Shehan tried hard to put Raia ahead but the defending partnership of by Rayan and Desmond was rock solid at the back for Ambelim.
In the 25 minute, Ambelim could have taken the lead but Semson’s attempt went inches over the bar.
Again, Jade had a chance but his low attempt went wide .
At the other end, goalkeeper Benny came to Ambelim’s rescue as he was very alert throughout with his diving saves.
At half time the score was goalless.
In the second half, Ambelim introduced Nial who came close twice but on both the occasions the goalkeeper came to Raia’s aid as his shots were thwarted just in time .
Both the teams played goalless at the end of the regulation time.
In the tie-breaker, Ambelim proved to be better shooter.
