Calangute by a 4-3 win via the tie-breaker in the football tournament organised by St Anthony’s SC, Marna, at St Anthony’s Church ground, Siolim, recently.
Both the sides matched each others’ strengths and came with several threatening moves but the much needed goal eluded them in the regulation time.

Samuel Fernandes failed to score from handshaking distance for Anjuna Gymkhana while at the other end Aniket blasted wide having only keeper Soma at his mercy.
Neither of the sides managed to break the deadlock at the end of play and hence the tie-breaker was implemented where in Dinesh Morajkar, Soma Korgaonkar, Akshay Dabolkar and Venkatesh Mainkar scored for Anjuna Gymkhana colts while Ashley Lobo, Sarvanand Naik and Rajkumar shot on target for the St Savio Sports Club.
St Anthony’s SC President John Pereira and Secretary Xavier Fernandes introduced the chief guest Parish Priest of St Anthony’s Church Fr Rahul Colaco, special invitees Crispin Sequeira, Zilla Pednekar, Lavino Rebello and Welvin Menezes to the teams and match officials.
Anjuna Gymkhana returned home richer by Rs 50,000 plus trophy while St Savio Sports Club had to be content with the runners-up cash prize of Rs 30,000 plus trophy.
