Another nomination filed for GFA top post

PANJIM The number of candidates interested in the top post in the Goa Football Association (GFA) increases by the day. On Friday, Lovino Anthony Pereira of Club San Miguel, Taleigao, filed his nomination for the post of President.

There were also nominations for the post of VP North. Victor Fernandes of Panjim Footballers, Francis Fernandes of Dune Sports Club, Babli Mandrekar of Arpora Sports Club and Jonathan D’ Souza of FC Goa will be contesting for the post.

Earlier in the week, Dr Caitanno Fernaandes the President of FC Tuem, filed his nomination for the post of President. Savio Alemao, the son of former GFA President Churchill Alemao filed his nomination on Wednesday. Later in the day, Welvin Menezes, former secretary of the GFA, did likewise.

Nominations have also been filed by Philomena Costa for the post of Vice-President South. He will contest against the interim President Anthony Pango Francis Fernandes, Dominick Pereira will contest for the post of VP North.  According to sources, many more candidates can be expected to file their nominations for the top posts though they are expected to withdraw as the date of the elections nears. The elections will be held on October 30.
