PANJIM: Holders Bardez Veterans recorded a 2-0 victory over Chinchinnim Veterans to enter the finals of 13th VM Salgaocar memorial veterans soccer tournament at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, Thursday.
The holders took the expected lead in the 18th minute. Elvis Fernandes moved on the left flank and crossed into box where the loose clearance of the rival defense fell to Bruno Coutinho who’s left-footer was blocked by Chinchinim stopper Rosario Fernandes but the rebound went to Allwyn Fernandes who unleashed a right footer which hit the upright and went in.
Bardez made the issue safe 10 minutes before the close when striker Misquin was bundled inside the box by Chinchinnim goalkeeper Cajetan Fernandes resulting in a penalty which was easily converted by Bruno.
