MARGAO: Betalbatim SC edged past Navelim Villagers Union 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the Mc Dowell’s No.1 Yaari Premier Cup Football tournament (South zone) organized by Cuncolim Union, at Cuncolim ground, on Sunday. Betalbatim SC led 1-0 at half time.
Betalbatim SC scored in the very first minute as Bonny Niasso sent in a long ball to Klinsman Pereira, who headed in the opener.
Thereafter, Bitu Singh of Navelim Villagers Union had an attempt on goal but his shot deflected off a rival defender and went out for an abortive corner-kick.
At the other end, Betalbatim SC had a go but Klinsman Pereira’s 27th minute effort sailed inches above the crossbar.
Crossing over, Navelim Villagers Union equalized in the 48th minute as Bitu headed in off a cross by Clinton Niasso.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Betalbatim SC scored through Klinsman Pereira, Godwin Fernandes, Inacio Afonso and Austin Fernandes while Navelim Villagers Union converted through Bitu Singh, Sukhdev Arvade and Clinton Niasso.
