Betalbatim Sporting Club swamped Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda 3-0 to cruise into the quarter-final of 34th St Joseph Festival inter-village football organised by Dramapur SC at Dramapur ground, on Sunday. Betalbatim were leading 1-0 at half time.
Betalbatim spearheaded by Denzil Rogtao dominated the proceedings as he troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids and unleashed a number of spot shots.
Denzil put Betalbatim in the lead early, after he picked up a pass from Johnson D’Sousa.
Stung by the setback, Don Bosco tried their best to regroup and made a couple of forays into the rival territory but it was dealt firmly by Betalbatim defenders.
Crossing over, there was no let up and Betalbatim attacked the rival citadel repeatedly with Denzil being on the rampage.
Betalbatim increased the lead when Hayston D’Costa’s free kick from outside the box crashed into the net giving no chance to the Don Bosco keeper.
Don Bosco, despite trailing 0-2, did not show any urgency and were a pale shadow of themselves as they hardly tested the rival keeper.
Betalbatim did not lose appetite for more goals with Denzil, who was a thorn in the rival defence, struck a second time to complete his brace late in the second session.
