Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal, Mae dos Pobres High School, Nuvem, St Joseph High School, Aquem and St Joseph Educational Institute ,Chandor sailed into the semi-finals of Salcete Taluka Under-17 inter-school football tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Government ground, Manora, Raia.
Bethany Convent defeated St Pius High School, Orlim 2-1. Monty Valadares, Lefito Gomes were the goal getters for Bethany Convent while Clinton Coutinho reduced the margin for St Pius.
Mae dos Pobres prevailed over Loyola High School, Margao 6-5 via the tie-breaker. The teams were locked 1-1 at the end of normal period.
In the penalty shoot-out, Stephen Colaco, Godfrey Mascarenhas, Samson Colaco, Melwyn D’Silva, Schubert Colaco, Albino Pereira scored for the Nuvem school while Savio Vaz, Meldon D’Silva, Stanley Hadigali, Rufus Fernandes and Filburn Crasto converted for Loyola.St Joseph Aquem beat Holy Rosary Convent, Nuvem 6-5 via the tie-breaker after the teams were tied 1-1 at full time.
St. Joseph’s Chandor downed Our Lady of Rosary HS, Fatorda 3-1. Mavlon Moura struck twice while James Fernandes was the other scorer. Brandon Sequeira scored a consolation goal.
