MAPUSA: Bicholim Association of Football Fans breezed past Assonora United Football Club 3-2 in a GFA 3rd Division League at Tivim ground, Wednesday.
The winners led 2-1 at half time.
Bicholim got off to a dream start, scoring in the very second minute through Shubham Mayekar. They had a reason to celebrate, two minutes later when Tejesh Govekar inflated the lead.
Assonora pulled one back at the half hour mark through Prajot and then went on to equalize in the 53rd minute through M A Francis.
The final quarter was a nervy affair but Bicholim had the last laugh as Pundalik Gaddi scored the match-winner.
Holy Cross thump Arpora
Holy Cross Sports Club, Arambol thumped Arpora Sports Club 3-1 at Siolim ground. Domnic Alfonso opened the scoring in the 26th minute and changing over, Hemant Rodrigues doubled Arambol’s advantage.
However, Sachin Bhatkande pulled one back for Arpora in the 80th minute to give hopes of an equalizer but Richard Fernandes scored in the dying minutes to secure three points for Arambol.
Peddem Bomm edge past Vailankanni
Peddem Bomm Sports Club rallied to edge past Vailankanni Sports Club, Morjim 3-2 at Chapora ground. Leslie Fernandes had given Morjim the lead but their rivals came back strongly in the second session and scored through Satyam, Uday and Rohan. Pankaj Morje scored Morjim’s second goal.
Bastora ground St Sebastian
At Aldona ground, Bastora United Sports Club grounded St Sebastian Sports Club 2-0. Alan Monteiro scored in the first session while Harish Jadhav made it 2-0 after resumption.
