MAPUSA: Host Calangute Association Sports Club managed to edge past Goan Warriors by a 2-1 margin to move ahead in the Calangute Panchayat Soccer Cup, at Poriat ground, on Monday.
It was the Calangute colts that surged ahead in the 25th minute when Runal Shirodkar sent a diagonal pass to Aiken Dias who made no mistake to beat the onrushing keeper with a neat placement to give his team the lead.
Aiken Dias was at the right place at the right time to connect Runal Shirodkar’s cross into the goal to double the lead.
On crossing over, Goan Warriors managed to pull a goal back where Projot Asalekar scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-1.
Goan Warriors went all out in search of the equaliser but the Calangute defence failed to bulge under pressure.
