CALANGUTE: Hosts Candolim SC trounced PVC Association, Parra 3-1 to move into the semi-finals of Candolim Village Panchayat Cup 2013 football at Candolim. Monday.
Candolim began on an attacking note and could have forged ahead in the 8th minute but a Sigmond Silveira try missed the mark narrowly off Bapu Pednekar’s corner.
Parra forged ahead off a counter-attack in the 10th minute through Joseph Pacheco who beat Candolim Keeper Marshal with a neat placement.
Stung by the reverse, Candolim went all out in search of the equaliser and restored parity in the 20th minute through a Terence D’Mello free kick.
Sagar Bhatkarnde put Candolim ahead in the 45th minute after being fed on a platter by Paul Cardozo. Within minutes, Paul Cardozo made it 3-1 for Candolim off a Gaurish Mandrekar move.
Parra did not give up and came close to scoring in the dying minutes but Candolim keeper Marshal effected a brilliant save off Atish.
