CALANGUTE: Candolim Sports Club grounded PVC Association, Parra 3-1 in the inaugural match of the 17th Vagator All-Goa inter-village football tournament organized by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Ozrant ground, Vagator, on Tuesday.
Candolim began the match on an attacking note and could have taken the lead in the 14th minute of play but Bapu Pednekar shot wide. Parra came close to scoring in the 18th minute but Atish’s shot was saved by Candolim keeper Xavier.
Jose Lopes put Candolim ahead in the 29th minute off an assist by Bhavesh Kandolkar.
Trailing by a goal, Parra fought back and drew level just before half time through Atish.
Changing over, Sanket Jotkar regained the lead for Candolim in the 50th minute. Trailing by two goals to one, Parra exerted pressure on Candolim defense but their forwards failed to score. Mauli Naik increased the lead for Candolim in the 60th minute of play.
