CAVELOSSIM: Cavelossim defeated Benaulim 4-3 to clinch the Cavelossim Tourist Taxi Drivers and Owners Association Trophy in memory of late members Patricio Luis, Marcus Rodrigues and John Da’Costa, at Fr Wellington Dustan football ground, Cavelossim, on Saturday.
Benaulim netted the first goal of the match through James with a placement shot while Alex equalised for Cavelossim.
Cavelossim went on to net two quick goals through Charles and James D’Costa in the 14th and 16th minutes respectively.
However, the joy was short-lived as Benaulim netted two more goals through Casmir.
Cavelossim scored the match winner through Charles to make it 4-3 at full-time.
The winners were awarded Rs 15,000 while the runners-up received Rs 10,000 plus trophies. Benaulim constituency MLA Churchill Alemao was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence of Sarpanch of Cavelossim VP Dionizio, Joe Gomes, Iris Passanha, Joel Afonso, Sanford Baretto and Clyde Fernandes were also present.
