PARRA: Chapora Yuvak Sangh registered a hard fought 6-5 win via the tie-breaker over FC Goa Juniors to move into the quarters of the Goa Police Cup organised by Goa Police Cell played at Parra grounds on Tuesday.
It was some stunning saves from Chapora keeper Soma Korgaonkar in the match and the penalty shoot-out that got him the man-of-the-match award from the Parra Sarpanch Chandan Harmalkar and Deputy Sarpanch Daniel Lobo.

All the goals came in the first session of play with Satichand Satelkar and Rohit Totad scoring for the Chapora outfit while Amen Altar and Bryson Pereira scoring for FC Goa Juniors.
In the 16th minute, a perfect low cross by Pratik Dargalkar was superbly finished by Satichanand Satelkar to put Chapora ahead. Chapora should have doubled their lead couple of minutes later but this time Satichanand shot wide from close.
The Young Gaurs regrouped themselves and levelled terms in the 26th minute with a brilliant placement by Amen Altar.
Young Gaurs made it 2-1 this time Bryson Pereira stabbing the ball home from close. However, it did not take long for Chapora to find their equaliser with Rohit Totad’s header hitting the upright before entering the goal 2-2.
On crossing ends, both the teams played on equal footing with Chapora colts giving very little space for Young Gaurs to have a clear look at the rival goal.
Young Gaurs’ best chance to take the lead came in the 69th minute but a 25-yard strike from Versley Paes was brilliantly parried for a corner by keeper Soma Korgaonkar.
In the last ten minutes of the match Chapora keeper Soma brought two outstanding saves to stop Versley and Sidney Lucas efforts.
In the penalty shoot-out Pratik Dargalkar, Stephen Martin, Akshsay Dabholkar and Harshad Gaonkar scored for the Chapora side while Alfiano Fernandes, Prachit Gaonkar and Aitroy Carvalho found the net for FC Goa.
