NAVELIM: Chinchinim Veterans beat Sun Moon Veterans, Chandor by a 1-0 deficit to move in the quarter-finals the Navelim Veterans football tournament, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Wednesday.
Mahesh Lotlikar the midfielder of Chinchinim connected the ball to John Leitao but the laters shot got the Sun Moon defender’s leg and went out of play in the 4th minute.
The Sun Moon Veterans through Tofilio Dias’ header missed the net of Chinichinim in the tenth minute.
Minutes later, Sun Moon’s Agnelo Rodrigues move was foiled by Mathew Pereira of Chinchinim. As the match progressed, Chinchinim striker Gregory Dias’ power packed shot failed to pop up into Sun Moon net.
The match winner was scored by Jerry Fernandes with a placement shot in the 21st minute.
