CHINCHINIM: Union of Chinchinim Villagers got the better of Ambelim SC 9-8 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of Union of Chinchinim Villagers 8-a-side inter-village football tournament played at the Our Lady of Hope ground, Chinchinim on Monday.
Ryan Fernandes took the lead for Union of Chinchinim Villagers in the 12th minute of play off a free-kick. Within three minutes, Stavlon Cardoza equalized for Ambelim SC.
Thereafter, Denil Rebello made it 2-1 for Union of Chinchinim Villagers in the 30th minute.
Richard Fernandes levelled terms for Ambelim SC in the 55th minute. Richard Fernandes made it 3-2 for Ambelim SC in the 57th minute while Sunny Simoes equalized 3-3 in the 59th minute for Chinchinim Villagers.
Blasco Fernandes then made it 4-3 for Ambelim SC in the 60th minute while Domingo Rebello levelled terms for Chinchinim Villagers in the dying minutes of second half.
At the end of normal time, both the teams settled for a 4-4 draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Union of Chinchinim Villagers proved to be the better shooters.
