MAPUSA: Clube de Salgaocar played their hearts out to register a 5-1 win over Sporting Clube de Goa in the Reliance Foundation Development League U-21 played at Duler stadium here on Wednesday.
Both the teams having lost their last league match started on a promising note but it was Sporting lads that forged ahead in the very 5th minute when Shaviz Pathan sent a neat ball to Francisco Fernandes who latched a scorching long ranger which beat Salgaocar’s goalkeeper hands down, 1-0.
Stung by the reverse Salgaocar regrouped themselves to find Isac Zomuanpuia score twice from the penalty spot and Edwin Kalsolkar net in the third goal before the breather.
On resumption of play Isac Zomuanpuia completed his hat-trick with Roger Pereira adding his name to the scorers list by scoring the fifth goal, 5-1. Clube de Salgaocar’s Isac Zomuanpuia received the man of the match award.
In the morning match, Dempo SC registered a fluent 3-1 win over FC Goa. All the goals came in the second session of play.
It was FC Goa’s Lalthangliana who put his team ahead in the very 47th minute of play. However Dempo lads came back strongly in the last quarter of the match to find Mevan Dias net a brace, while Shreyash
Naik accounted for the third goal.
Dempo’s Mevan Dias received the man-of-the-match award.
