PANJIM: Down by a set, Colony Boys of Valpoi overcame a spirited M7, Taleigao to win the first all-Goa U-21 volleyball tournament organized by Crown Club, Santa Cruz, at club volleyball court, here, recently.
The final score read 23-25, 25-19, 25-10, 26-24.
With Vithal in good form, Taleigao took an early lead and won the first set 25-23. Colony Boys Valpoi started the second set in an attacking mode and with Umesh spiking with precision, they won the set 25-19.
In the third set, Colony Boys spiked and blocked the M7 attack to win easily at 25-10. The fourth set was a thriller with leads changing heads but eventually Colony Boys won 26-24.
Presley Fernandes won the Promising Player, Umesh Rane Best Smasher and Sunil Best Lifter. Earlier, the president of Crown Club, Victor Gonsalves welcomed.
Eng. Victor Gonsalves was the chief guest for the final while Fr Alexander Pereira presided.
Olavio Fernandes and Ladislau Gonsalves were the guest of honours.
