After five matches, Colvale have secured 10 points which takes them to the top of the standings while Sarzora remain on seven points from five outings.
The home team started off attackingly as Mozam got past rival keeper Astral Mascarenhas and played the ball to Gulrez Khan but the latter’s close range effort was blocked by the rival defenders in the fourth minute. However, Colvale took the lead in the next minute after Mitesh’s rasping right-footer was blocked by Astral and then rebounded to Mozam, who easily nodded in from hand-shaking distance.
Just before the lemon break, Alroy had a golden opportunity to level the scores when Colvale custodian Salil Chari fumbled in his collection. However, Alroy was left frustrated by Chetan, who made a second important block of the evening for his team.
Post resumption, Sarzora equalized in the 50th minute as Alroy’s attempted cross from the right flank dipped into the goal, 1-1.
Four minutes later, Sarzora were unlucky as their defender Gauss Sayes, who had come on as a substitute headed into his own-goal while trying to clear a cross by Colvale’s Ian Fernandes. After being gifted a goal, Colvale scored one of their own in the 57th minute as Mitesh finished with a deft placement.
Colvale dominated the final quarter and could have easily scored several goals if not for goalkeeper Astral’s efforts. In the 83rd minute, Mozam got past the rival keeper for the third time and this time successfully slotted the ball inside the empty goal.
