Corps of Signals hold Churchill Brothers SC

AMBELIM: The match played between Corps of Signals and Churchill Brothers SC ended with a 1-1 draw in the GFA Pro League, at Ambelim ground, on Friday.
Both the teams started the match on fore front moves. 
Churchill Brothers SC Pankaj Sona’s move was tackled by Romenjit Meetei, defender of Corps of Signals, in the very third minute. Within two minutes, Pawan Thakur of Corps of Signals’ goal bond shot was blocked by Anthony Dias, defender of Churchill Brothers SC, in the 5th minute.
A set piece worked out by Micky Vaz, midfielder and Nash Pereira of Churchill Brothers SC should have rewarded with a goal but Nash’s volley was fisted away by Niyas Mon, goalkeeper of Corps of Signals, in the 7th minute. 
In the 20th minute, Pankaj’s solo effort again with long ranger shot flew over the cross bar of the rival goal.
It was an open chance for Corps of Signals in the 30th minute with midfielder L Solomon feeding Lairellakpam Singh, the midfielder inside the Churchill Brothers box but the latter blindly shot into the safe hands of Ricardo Cardozo, goalkeeper of Churchill Brothers SC.
The second half saw both teams scoring a goal each. In the 87th minute, substitute striker Doyl D’Silva’s powerful header made way into the Corps of Signals net to open the account for Churchill Brothers SC off well measured and accurate cross from striker Nash.
In the injury time, Corps of Signals levelled terms 1-1 through striker Pawan off Roshan Singh supply.
Kuldeep Kumar of Corps of Signals was given marching orders by match referee Xavier Clement for abusive language in the injury time of second half.
