MARGAO: Cortalim Gymkhana and Betalbatim Sports Club shared the spoils after playing a 1-1 draw in the Goa Football Association U-14 League match played at Velsao ground, on Saturday.
In an evenly contested battle, both the sides showed great maturity in football displaying a good brand of football with possession play and timely attacks whenever required.
Though the score line told a different story, thanks to the great defending from either sides which made it difficult for the attacking front.
After an enticing end to end football, Betalbatim SC scored the first goal of the match in the 32nd minute through Seghen Fernandes thus going into the break with a goal lead.
The coach’s pep talk played a vital role for Cortalim side as Coach Leroy Menezes looked to guide the strikers at the break for Cortalim who responded quickly with the equalising goal through Jagdish Mohato in the 42nd minute.
Once on level terms, Betalbatim and Cortalim defended resolutely thus cancelling each other’s attacks.
Betalbatim’s Rohan Yadav was cautioned for rough play.
The teams were tied 1-1 till the final whistle.
