FATORDA: Curtorim Gymkhana beat UC Telaulim 2-1 in the Goa Football Association GENO First Division League, played at Artificial Turf Fatorda on Saturday.
The Curtorim side began the game on an attacking note and pressed hard onto the Telaulim defence. The Curtorim Gymkhana team after much probing finally opened the scoreboard in the 33rd minute through Milagres Fernandes who neatly placed his strike to give his side the lead as they went into the break with a slender lead.
On changing sides, UC Telaulim were the better side at the game as they came out on full attack. They had a couple of attempts in the second session but poor finishing denied them the equaliser. While pressing forward, the Curtorim team took full advantage of the open defence and managed to sneak in and score their second goal through Liston Fernandes in the 78th minute.
The Telaulim side were finally able to net a goal in as Denson Fernandes was brilliantly assisted by teammate Premson Laurence as the former shot into the nets to make it 2-1 in the 81st minute.
The final minutes witnessed the Curtorim side stay strong at the back as they cancelled out all the attempts created by the opposition side as they sneaked past UC Telaulim.
With this win Curtorim Gymkhana have registered their first win in the league as they lost one and drew the next while for the Telaulim side it was a second consecutive defeat after they won their first game of the league.
In another match at Sirsaim ground, AA de Moira scored a narrow 1-0 win over Clube Sao Minguel de Taleigao.
Early goal from Creig Menezes was enough for the Moira side to take home all three points.
Meanwhile in the GFA’s Second Division League match played at Agassaim ground, Nauxim Sports Club edged past Neura Football Club, 1-0.
Joytesh Palkar scored the winner for Nauxim SC in the 27 the minute.
