CAVELOSSIM: CYA Mobor defeated Quepem Veterans 1-0 to advance into final of the 1st all-Goa late Joseph Alves Veterans soccer tournament, organised by Cavelossim Villagers forum and played at Fr Drustian Wellington ground, Cavelossim on Thursday.
Both the teams started the game with attacking football featuring players like Mario Soares for Mobor and Climax Lawrence for Quepem Veterans.
Mobor should have surged ahead in the 10th minute but Charles blasted the shot over the Quepem bar from 20 yards. The first half remained goalless.
Crossing over, Mobor increased the tempo and almost scored as Santana Furtado’s attempt was palmed away for a corner by Quepem keeper Anil Fernandes.
CYA Mobor’s Xavier Colaco’s free-kick from the left was beautifully controlled by Raju Carvalho before slotted into the Quepem net in the 45th minute.
