MARGAO: A fine brace by striker David Colaco helped Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club overcome Fr Agnel Youth Club, Pilar 2-1 to enter the quarter-final of all-Goa St Anthony Super Soccer UK Cup football tournament, organized by St Anthony Sports Club, Colva at DYSA ground, Colva, on Monday. There was no score at half time.
The teams displayed attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowds on their toes. Both had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards muffed gilt edged chances.
Post resumption, Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club were dominant lot with their forwards and midfielders worked in tandem to put the rival defence under disarray.
Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club broke the deadlock in the 48th minute when David Colaco slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Spurred by the early success, Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club intensified their attacks and in the 56th minute striker David Colaco registered his brace to give his team a 2-0 cushion.
Stung by the setback, Fr Agnel Youth Club had couple of scoring chances but Chatur Naik missed two easy sitters.
Fr Agnel Youth Club went all out and in the 60th minute Yogendra Thapa scored the consolation goal.
