PANJIM: The Goa Powerlifting Association (GPA) will be organizing their all-Goa Powerlifting Championship for juniors and seniors on May 2 at Government primary school, near Sanguem bus stand, at 9.30 a.m. Sanguem for juniors and seniors.
The competition is open for the powerlifters who have 15 years domicile in Goa and should produce certificate at the time of weighing, which will be held on May 1, at multipurpose hall of Damodar College of Commerce and Economics between 9.30 to 11 a.m.
The announcement was made by President of Goa Powerlifting Association MLA Subhash Phaldesai at a press conference held in a city hotel, on Monday.
The trials to select the sub-junior team for the National Powerlifting Championship to be held in Tamil Nadu from 23rd to 26th May 2015 will also be held at the same venue. The competition will be held in two categories, senior men’s competition that will be held in eight categories namely below 59kg, below 66kg, below 74kg, below 83kg, below 93kg, below 105kg, below 120kg and over 120 kg.
The cash prizes of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 will be awarded in each categories along with medals and participation certificates.
The juniors men’s competition will be held in below 53kg, below 59kg, below 66kg, below 74 kg, below 83kg, below 93kg, below 105kg, below120 kg and over 120 kg and will be awarded with cash prizes of Rs 2,000, Rs 1,500 and Rs 750 each.
Secretary Manoj Hede, treasurer Sanjay Raikar and vice-president Shyam Sawardekar were also present.
