Davorlim rally to hold Areal

Sporting Club of Davorlim came from behind to hold Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 1-1 in the GFA Third Division League at Padribhat ground, Sao Jose de Areal on Wednesday. There was no score at half time.
Both teams dished out attacking football, there being a few chances at either goal with both team defenders quick and to avert danger with neat tackles.
Crossing over, Sao Jose were on an aggressive mode and repeatedly attacked the rival citadel. Their persistent forays into the rival territory were rewarded in the 56th minute when Mario Baretto unleashed a stiff shot which crashed into the net giving no chance to the rival keeper.
Stung by the setback, Sporting regrouped quickly and created many positive moves and increased the pace of the game with sporadic raids. Paxton Gomes neutralized the lead with a snap shot in the 65th minute to put his team on equal terms.
Yesterday, at Dramapur ground, Davorlim SC trounced Dicarpale SC 5-1 after both teams were tied 1-1 at half time.
Wilson put Dicarpale into the lead in the 18th minute, but their joy was shortlived when Cajetan D’Souza cancelled the lead in the 22nd minute. It was one-way traffic for Davorlim after the break as they mounted pressure on the rival citadel and scored the goals between quick intervals.
Davorlim’s Stanley Gomes made it 2-1 in the 56th minute. Cajetan struck a second time to register his brace in the 60th while Liston Colaco and Wayne scored in the 69th and 80th minutes to complete the rout.
