MARGAO: Sporting Club of Davorlim defeated Wilred Leisure Sports Club 3-2 to cruise into the quarter-finals of All-Goa Nuvem Panchayat Cup inter-village football at church ground, Nuvem, Monday. The teams were tied 1-1 at half time.
Davorlim broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when striker Anthony Furtado bulged the net. However, their joy was shortlived in the 20th minute when Vicky Cardozo found the equalizer.
Stunned by the equalizer, Davorlim mounted tremendous pressure on the rival citadel and striker Anthony Furtado scored for the second time. Unfazed Wilred Leisure restored parity through Milagres Fernandes. With time running out, Paxton Gomes struck the match-winner for Davorlim.
