MAPUSA: Dempo SC humbled Pilerne SC 8-0 in the GFA’s U-18 Football League match, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles started brightly and had they converted from all the opportunities that came their way, the scoreline would be much more embarrassing.
After a series of missed chances, Dempo SC finally took the lead in the 16th minute through a self goal.
Dempo went on to fire in three more goals before the lemon break through Vineet and Kapil (2).
Changing over, Pilerne SC managed to ward of the Dempo SC’s attack for the initial 15 minutes. However their defence eventually crumbled under the constant pressure put forth by the Azzuri’s.
In the 62nd minute, Dempo SC were awarded a penalty after a Pilerne defender handled ball inside the danger zone. Edwin made no mistake to put his side up by five goals.
Thereon, Dempo SC did not waste much time and fired in three more goals through Kapil, Trijoy and Ronald.
In another match, Sesa Football Academy scored a huge 8-0 win over Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao, at Sanquelim ground, on Tuesday.
In a one way traffic, Sesa went into the breather with a five goal advantage.
The winners went all out into the offensive from the beginning of the match and took the lead in the seventh minute when Veegan Ferrao set the ball on the platter to Mark Barretto, who coolly slotted the ball home.
After a bit of midfield action, Sesa doubled their lead in the 20th minute through Anil Chawan who scored through a solo effort.
Four minutes later, Veegan took the tally to 3-0 when his long range effort had no answer from the rival keeper.
Sesa came with two quick goals in the 29th and 31st minutes through Veegan and Mark Barretto to end the first half with a 5-0 lead.
Crossing over, Sesa continued from where they had left pinning the Taleigao lads in their own citadel and fired goals at regular intervals through Kunal Salgaonkar (54’), Glevito Miranda (64’) and Veegan (74’).
