PANJIM: Diljeet Velingker will meet Noel Noronha in the Men’s singles finals of the State Table Tennis Championship 2018 organised by Goa Table Tennis Association in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa, at Club Vasco Da Gama Hall, Panjim, on Sunday.
Diljeet stopped Nagesh Verenker in his tracks winning 4 -1. Nagesh had been in fine form throughout the tournament and though he engaged Diljeet in good rallies, it was Diljeet who cruised along to a 11-3, 12-10, 10-12, 11-5, 11-7 win over his opponent, seeded number one in sub juniors.
In the other semi-final, between former State champion Noel Noronha and Rutuj Sonawane, an upcoming junior player, Noel used his vast experience and temperament to good effect as he registered a hard fought 4-2 (5-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-3, 4-11, 11-2) win over a fighting Rutuj.
