MARGAO: Diocesan Priests blanked Sao Jose de Areal Villagers 2-0 in an exhibition football match, organized Sao Jose de Areal Villagers, at Padribhat ground, Sao Jose de Areal, on Sunday. There was no score at the lemon break.
The teams adopted aggressive approach and there were plenty of thrills. They had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards missed gilt edged chances.
Diocesan Priests were transformed side with their forwards swarming into the rival territory and launched barrage of attacks. They broke the deadlock soon after the resumption when Fr Rosario Oliveira slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. Spurred by the success, Diocesan Priests scored the insurance goal when Fr Benson Colaco punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
The following individual prizes were awarded to First scorer of the match Fr Rosario Oliveira, Best goalkeeper Fr Benjamin Victoria, Best midfielder Jose Carvalho of Areal Villagers and Man-of-the-match Fr Norbert D’Silva.
