Domnic tricks for Colvale

Domnic Fernandes bagged a hat-trick as Youth Sports Club of Colvale defeated Eagle SC 3-1 in GFA’s Third Division at Tivim ground on Monday. Colvale led 2-1 at the breather.
Intricate passing from Colvale’s right winger Domnic Fernandes and central midfielder Philino Ratos allowed Colvale to enjoy greater territorial advantage and create plenty of goal scoring chances throughout the 90 minutes.
Eagle battled hard, but there was no communication between the players especially the defence which put them on the back foot for most of the match. If it was not for the reflexes of goalkeeper Virendra Majik the score would have been a lot more in Colvale’s favour.
In the 9th minute, the Eagle’s defence failed to clear their lines leaving Domnic Fernandes to intercept the ball and punt past the Eagle custodian to give Colvale the lead.
Six minutes later, Eagle equalised through Jan Rodrigues who scored a free kick from 23 yards out, the ball deflecting off the post on its way in.
Domnic was on the scoresheet again in the 24th for Colvale, slipping the ball past the Eagle goalkeeper who had strayed outside his 18-yard box in an attempt to clear the ball but came off second best.
After the lemon break Colvale did not sit back. The coach gave the team ten minutes before making his first change. Deep Govekar came in for Azdam Fernandes. This was followed by switching Anthony Xavier for Milton Lobo. To counteract the changes, Eagle themselves brought in Vency Bosco for Girish Parab.
In the 72nd minute, Domnic proceded into the rival box and blasted into the bottom corner to secure the points for Colvale and notch up his hat-trick.
