Don Bosco Farm High School, Sulcorna thrashed New Educational Institute, Curchorem 4-0 to emerge champions in Quepem Taluka U-14 girls inter-school football tournament at Tilamol Panchayat ground, Quepem. Don Bosco led 2-0 at the breather.
Don Bosco dominated the entire proceedings from the start with midfielders and forwards working in tandem to put the opponents’ defence into disarray.
Don Bosco broke the deadlock when Gracy Naik slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Don Bosco piled on pressure and troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Their persistent raids fetched them dividends when Sumitra Goankar doubled the lead with a pile driver.
Stung by the double blow, New Educational Institute made some concerted efforts to reduce the margin and came close but Pooja Shinde’s shot was blocked by Don Bosco’s keeper.
Crossing over, it was one-way traffic for Don Bosco who repeatedly raided the rival citadel with their opponents’ defence buckling under slightest pressure from the Don Bosco forwards. Gudia Horo consolidated the lead when she punted the ball to the far corner of the net. Fiola Gomes rounded off the tally late in the second half.
Arvind Chavan, Physical Education teacher of Guardian Angel High School, Curchorem was the chief guest and distributed the certificates. John Fernandes, APEO Quepem Taluka was the guest of honour. Earlier, Raymond Pereira, Quepem Taluka Sports Organiser welcomed and, later proposed the vote of thanks.
