At first half, Navelim were leading 1-0. They opened the account in the 10th minute through Alister Gomes’ well composed shot off a cross by Jaison Pereira.
Don Bosco Oratory tried to equalise soon but Charlton Fernandes’ shot hit the upright of Navelim goal and went out of play. Dany Fernandes assisted.
Crossing over, Don Bosco Oratory managed to equalise in the 46th minute through Francis Andrade off a penalty kick.
Thereafter, both the teams dished out an attacking football in the remaining session of the second half but the strikers lacked accuracy in netting the goal.
At the end of regulation time, the teams were held to a 1-1 draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Don Bosco Oratory scored through Francis Andrade, Joel Camara, Danny Fernandes, Alfred Fernandes and Charlton Fernandes while Alister Gomes, Jaison Pereira, Aldrich Coelho andCharlton Fernandes netted for Navelim.
Dr Rui Carvalho, consul general of Portugal was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of guest of honour Fr Jose Roque Gonsalves, vigar of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim. Luizinho Faleiro, president of GPCC presided over.
The winners were awarded Rs 40,000 and a trophy while runners-up took home Rs 30,000 and a trophy.
The following individual prizes were awarded: Best half of the final Francis Andrade (Don Bosco Oratory), best player and hat-trick Aldrich Coelho (Navelim SC), best defender Joseph Dias (Navelim SC), best goalkeeper Darwin D’Costa, best forward Minguel Barretto (Don Bosco Oratory), best discipline team St Anthony SC (Marna-Siolim).
Earlier, Jose S Coelho welcomed and Lorry Dias introduced the guests.
Mauvin Tellis compered while Aluzio Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
