RAIA: Dramapur SC defeated Guardian Angel SC 5-4 in a thrilling tie-breaker to advance to the quarterfinals of the 25th all-Goa Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side inter-village football tournament, organised by Sirlim Sports Club and held at Chinchinim Church ground, on Saturday.
The match began with both teams aggressively attacking. In the 8th minute, Guardian Angel’s Godwin D’Costa scored with a powerful right-footed shot. Dramapur SC’s Chadel Fernandes missed an open tap-in shortly after. Guardian Angel doubled their lead in the 21st minute through Gleason Fernandes, following a cross from Godwin D’Costa. Dramapur SC’s Franky Olivera missed a penalty in the 29th minute, leaving the score at 2-0 in favour of Guardian Angel by halftime.

In the second half, Dramapur SC came out strong. Despite Chadel Fernandes missing a crucial opportunity in the 31st minute, Shenoy Olivera scored with a header from a corner in the 33rd minute. Dramapur’s persistence paid off in the 52nd minute when Nigel Fernandes dribbled past three defenders to score, tying the game at 2-2 at the end of regular time.
During the penalty shootout, Dramapur SC scored through Franky, Steflon and Shenoy, while Ryan Menezes and Godwin D’Costa scored for Guardian Angel SC, sealing a 5-4 victory for Dramapur SC.
