MAPUSA: Dunes SC, Mandrem, stunned hot contenders St Savio’s SC, Calangute, by 6-3 margin via tie-breaker to advance ahead in the St Anthony’s Cup organised by St Anthony’s SC, Marna-Siolim, at Siolim ground, on Tuesday.
It was St Savio’s SC Gauresh Desai, who put his team ahead with an easy placement, 1-0. It did not take long for Dunes SC to get their equaliser through Cyprian Rodrigues after he dribbled past two rival defenders, 1-1.
Once again St Savio SC gained lead. Melvin D’Souza’s header from Romero Fernandes free-kick had no answer from Dunes SC goalkeeper, 2-1. When it looked it was curtains down for Dunes SC, Tanay Kerkar, levelled terms with a brilliant solo effort, 2-2.
With the match ending in a 2-2 draw, the penalty shoot-out was enforced where for Dunes SC Myson, Leslee and Jordan were on target. Pranesh Gonsalves scored for St Savio’s SC.
