MARGAO: Fr Agnel Multipurpose Verna, Our Lady of Rosary High School Fatorda, Bethany Convent High School Sao Jose de Areal and Mount Mary High School Chinchinim booked their place in the semi-finals of U-14 boy’s Subroto Mukerjee Salcete Taluka inter-school football tournament, at Manora ground, Raia, on Wednesday.
Fr Agnel Multipurpose got the better of Loyola High School, Margoa 5-4 via the tie-breaker.
Perry Pereira, Shane Estibeiro, Aston Colaco, Joyran Fernandes and Cleston Afonso scored for Fr Agnel while Sanford Pereira, Xavier D’Mello, Keane D’Souza and Rohit Naik converted for Loyola.
OL of Rosary HS, Fatorda also moved into the semis with an identical 5-4 tie-breaker win over St Joseph Educational Institute, Chandor. Shelton Araujo, Steve D’Souza, Dickson Fernandes, Maxwell Furtado and Milroy Gaonkar scored for OL of Rosary while Ashmon Rodrigues, Shafik Ali, Irfan Yadwad and Richard D’Sa found the mark for St Joseph.
Shelton Dias scored the all-important goal in Bethany Convent’s solitary goal win over St Rita’s School, Maina.
Mount Mary High School, Chinchinim trounced St Anthony’s School, Majorda 3-0 with Danson Fernandes, Akshay Kompre and Jade Martins on the score sheet.
