PANJIM: Friends Xl Vaddem defeated YCL Quitula 5-4 vie the tie-breaker to lift the Bramanand Memorial inter-ward football tournament, organised by Bom Jesus Boys Nachinola at church ground, recently.
In the fast phase encounter, both teams played attacking football. Goalkeeper Kennith Lobo of Quitula was outstanding under the bar as he denied Edberg Sequeira and Amar.
Quitula were reduced to 10 men when Aaron was sent off after receiving a direct red card for using abusive language just before final whistle. In the tie-breaker, Edberg Sequeira, Clive Fernandes, Rupesh Patil, Francis Rodrigues and Umesh Pujar were scorers for Vaddem, and Cliff Dias, Akash Naik, Achutt Kerkar and Maxi Menezes were on target for Quitula, while Norbart Rodrigues shot wide.
Vaddem were rewarded Rs 20,000 and a trophy while Quitula took away Rs 15,000 and trophy. Freddy Fernandes, former Zilla member was the chief guest while Dominic Fernandes, Manager of Goa United Muscat was guest of honour.
